Causes of baby eczema

Baby eczema is one of the most common skin disorders in babies and infants. It is quite frustrating for the parents whose baby is affected by the symptoms of eczema. It appears like excessive dry and patchy skin causing itching and soreness on the infant’s tender skin.

Sometimes during pregnancy the mother’s diet might lead to the situation. Heredity or presence of related diseases like Asthma can be one of the major causes of eczema. Babies who have lower immune system are more prone to eczema symptoms. Harsh chemical containing soaps, shampoos and baby cloth cleaners also can be the possible reason of baby eczema. Many babies are allergic to certain foods like citrus fruits, milk, sweets, peanuts, shell fish, fish, wheat, etc causing eczema or similar kind of skin disorder. Chemicals in skin care products, detergents, dust mites, pollens, washing powders to dry air, scratchy clothes and synthetic clothes can trigger eczema.

There are several types of Baby Eczema. Atopic eczema is the most common among infants. The cause of this type of eczema is allergens or may be hereditary factor. It can be found as on the baby’s head and scalp, the neck, inside knees, elbows, and even on the buttocks. Contact dermatitis is caused by any contact of allergic person or animal and from harsh chemical like soaps and washing powder.  Baby cradle cap is one very common type of newborn eczema. This causes peeling of the dry or greasy scalp and can be extended over face also.
